Punta Mera
History
Mera lighthouse consist of two towers located at Mera Point, in the northwest of the urban area and beach. The front tower is the smallest, it is 11 m high and is situated at 56 m above sea level. The back tower is 300 metres away and between both towers is the former lighthouse-keeper house, nowadays it is the reception centre for tourist visiting the natural monument (where it is) Costa de Dexo- Serantes (Coast of Dexo- Serante). This centre, known as aula do mar ( sea lecture room) is a small cultural centre where videos about the area are proyected, the operation of both lighthouses are explained, there is also a room dedicated to the natural monument, etc. Moreover, you can comtemplate a dramatic view from its flat roof (there are two telescopes).
